The Onigiris here are the best ive ever had! Theyre packed with so much flavour and the rice and seafood are always so fresh and delicious. 5/5 stars❤️
Best onigiri in Toronto! The raw salmon and tuna are my favorite. They put so much filling inside and it is perfectly seasoned. They put care into making each one.
I love onigiri and was so excited for this but it didn’t live up to its hype. They are well filled, but the rice didn’t tasted seasoned and the nori wasn’t seasoned either, was soggy almost immediately. Fillings tasted decent but not as good as I thought it would.
Ate here for the first time on Saturday late afternoon. Ordered the grilled salmon and spicy chicken. The onigiri was quite big with a decent amount of fillings inside. The wait time can be quite long. Just ignore the owner/cashier, she’s kinda weird and likes a nice ordered lineup with space in between the stall.
The lady at the counter is extremely rude. I very hungry and was looking at the menu by the cashier without realizing there was a line up behind. When she told me to look at the menu on the left side, I told her I already decided and she kept on yelling at me to line up. I am not an ignorant person and if I knew it I would have lined up. I felt very offended and did not buy anything from this store. Koreans can make better onigiri. Their food is nothing special; you can make it at home and save money. I’d rather not invest at this store. Very shameful. I guarantee their business will close down within 6 months. Stop ripping off people and learn to be humble.
Onigiri KaiKyoTei is a great little spot with fresh, tasty rice balls that always hit the spot. The ingredients are high quality, the flavors are balanced, and everything tastes homemade in the best way. The staff are polite and quick, and the shop has that clean, minimalist feel you’d expect from a good Japanese spot. The only thing missing is spam onigiri — it would be a perfect addition to their lineup. Still, everything they do have is delicious and worth the visit.
5 stars isn’t even close to enough! I wish I could give more. I’ve been coming here for years since they opened and every single time the onigiri has been perfect. You can really tell when the owner of a restaurant loves the food they serve and I feel it here with every bite I take of their onigiri. The fillings are generous and the perfect amount of flavour to balance with the rice, which I always find is textured perfectly as well. The owner and staff are so friendly and knowledgeable about the food they serve and patient to answer questions. Try the umeshiso!! Edit(1 year later): I wish I could leave another review but all I can do is edit this one, haha. Went back there today for the first time in a while, and I’m a regular customer as stated in my previous review so I’m so pleased that their quality has been consistent even when experiencing such a boom in popularity. I’ve been to japan a couple times since the start of the year and I haven’t been able to find onigiri as delicious and generously filled with toppings as these ones, even after visiting the super famous ones you see all over the internet on Japanese and international social media. This is seriously the best place to get authentic onigiri in Canada, I strongly recommend! I saw some of the negative reviews and all I can say is, I hope everyone can have more patience especially when small businesses are adjusting to huge surges in popularity. Onigiri Kai Kyo Tei has always been, and remains to be, my favourite place to eat in Toronto.
