Nearly lost a thousand dollar Valorant account over playing here. What happened? My boyfriend and I saw the place online through a TikTok and made a nearly a two hour commute to Playerbase. We walk in and the promotion ($35 in food, free games for 6 hours) we hear about less than a month ago is no longer active despite it being advertised as a permanent thing. Due to this, we spend $80 for half the amount of game time (5 hours) and a small amount of food (2 drinks, fries and popcorn chicken). We’re willing to look past that. We log on, sip our overpriced ($14 for two) and over sweetened iced tea, and start playing Valorant, which is the whole reason we came. We get one game in before we get an error code indicating that there’s something wrong with the PC. No big deal, we talk to an employee and they tell us to go to another computer. We do that and get the same error code upon logging in. This process repeats 4 separate times. The staff then quickly hang a sign saying there’s an issue with playing Valorant, only it’s not just Valorant, it’s all Riot games. Okay, no big deal. We pivot to play Steam games and order some fries and popcorn chicken. Over an hour passes and I ask the staff the status of the food and I’m told that they’re changing the oil over. Cool, no sweat. Thirty five minutes later, our food comes out. It’s no more than 30 french fries and maybe a dozen pieces of chicken, however they were quite good. Despite the horrible bathrooms and steep price, we consider it a good date until we get home. My boyfriend’s Valorant account is banned. He immediately reaches out to customer support explaining we played at a gaming cafe and he doesn’t understand why he’d be banned. He’s told that the cafe has illegal modifications enabled for cheating but given the situation, they’ll just place his account on a month long suspension. He nearly lost an account he’s spent over $1000 on from playing at this cafe. We’ll never go back. Save yourself the time, money and account.

Been here many times since they open. The atmosphere of gaming feels nice when I go here, but the pc’s are so old, sometimes the headset is not working and the mouse would glitch when I play. And also the people here are kind of rude, doesn’t care about people.

It's definitely a 3.5/5, PCs are good, however the quality of the monitor depends on where you sit including the mouse and keyboard combination. The seats are not all the same, I do not recommend the throne looking chair that has no height adjustment. One big killer is that if youre mid game and your time credit runs out, you will be signed out of your PC without giving you warning /chance to complete the game you're playing.Overall it's good for the price

August 28 2025 First time experience was not the greatest. Staff are nice but when I was trying to look for someone to help download a game, there were no staff to help. You need your own account to access all games you want to play.

I appreciate the aesthetic as well as the hours and food. However, cleanliness was definitely a concern. I am a healthcare student who came to study and play cs with my partner and noticed that they don’t use any disinfectants to clean their surfaces. Restaurant hand wipes instead of alcohol wipes are used and the cart with cleaning supplies only had windex and air freshener.

A hidden gem for gamers and board game lovers in Markham! Playerbase is one of the coolest spots in town if you’re into gaming, mahjong, Werewolf, or just hanging out with friends. They’ve got everything—from esports setups and script murder games to milk tea, snacks, and even full meals. What I love most is the 24-hour access—it’s perfect for late-night gaming sessions or weekend get-togethers. The vibe is super chill, and the space is clean and well-organized. Staff are friendly and always helpful when setting up games. Definitely recommend checking it out, especially if you’re looking for a fun hangout spot with lots of game options and great drinks!

Came here for boardgames - 15$ per person + another 15$ for minimum spend. Had a pretty distinct cigarette smell inside, food was overpriced, very very limited boardgame selection.
