This is the best bed I have every slept on which makes this review very easy. But what separates Dormio from other companies is the level of service. Damir is outstanding and took the time to ensure he understood our needs and helped us find the best product. His level of care and attention allowed us to feel comfortable in our purchase and his follow up has reinforced that. Great product, even better care. Thanks Damir
Terrible product and unethical owner and staff that lie. Spent just over $5,000 on mattress and support piece (this was the only item well made with slabs of wood, but is stand alone and doesn’t secure into headboards purchased elsewhere). Also, the legs need staining. The mattress pieces were not the same size. It takes quite a bit of time and strength to fan them out to try to get them to align. Significant mattress dip immediately. I was taking the mattress apart and re-sandwiching it together on a constant basis to try to create an even and supportive sleeping surface. Which is no easy feat assembling the latex. Very weird product as it has significant push back and will make your bones sore, such as hip bone if side sleeper, yet also dips and sinks. This is not a healthy product for the human body to rest on for 8 hours. The owner John stood me up TWICE at the store when we had appointments to meet as the store was not open set hours, but willy-nilly. He is rude, unresponsive and uncooperative. His daughter who also works there lied to me and said that he was on his way to meet me when she had not spoken to him. He then finally called me to say that he was not on his way. When I said I was shocked and disgusted that on top of waiting for a second time(!!) I was lied to by his daughter he became rude and defensive. The whole experience was bizarre and upsetting! Save your money and a terrible experience! I have extreme buyers remorse… I was better off to throw $5,000 out the window! I ended up selling it online for $400 after less than 2 years with it. I endured great stress and anxiety dealing with these people. The mattress protector is also garbage, it ‘thins out’ and ripped when pulling it over the corner, after a few washes. I have never experienced this degree of buyers remorse in my life. Save yourself the experience and shop elsewhere is my advice.
My wife and I purchased an 11", 3-layer, king-sized latex bed, as well as an alpaca wool duvet, luxury alpaca pillows, nice sheets, and a cotton mattress cover in 2015. Six years later, I wanted to explain my opinion of the product. (1) The mattress: It is not bad but not specifically better than a spring mattress, in my view. After 6 years of sleeping on it (with a few rotations), our mattress has developed a "W" shape with dips where both my wife and I sleep (Pic #1). We aren't overweight. This is frustrating because we felt that the mattress was supposed to be resistant to this effect. It's the biggest let-down since we paid ~$5000 for the bed and foundation in 2015. The latex layers do not appear to be cut to the same size or length (Pic #2). Some sides have "spikes" on them (Pic #4/5), and they do not appear to be rectangular (Pic #3). The overall shape appears somewhat trapezoidal. The layers haven't been particularly comfortable for us. We are, however, trying to experiment with switching our medium and soft layers to see if this helps. (2) After 7 years, we decided to try to wash the zippered mattress protector because it was showing signs of discolouration; this seemed like a sanitary thing to do. (Note that it says "Organic Cotton" on the cover, and Dormio's website shows that their protectors are washable.) Upon washing, ours erupted in small, stinky fibers. It seems that the protector had alpaca wool. It has shrunk beyond repair; we've spent the entire afternoon trying to stretch it back into shape, but no luck. We've thrown it in the garbage. We spoke to a salesperson at Dormio, and it will cost us $750 to replace. We don't want any more alpaca products (you'll see why, below), and they've been able to find a cotton replacement for $500, which while cheaper, gives us pause. (3) Allow me to comment on the following additional items which we also bought: (a) A duvet, made of alpaca wool: When we received it, we felt that it was so smelly that we had to stop using it. People coming to our house thought that we had a wet dog hiding in our bedroom. (b) Luxury pillows, with alpaca wool: They were supposed to be very comfortable, but they were also very smelly in our opinion. Out of desperation, I tried to wash the pillows. My bad; they collapsed into a ball. We had to throw them into the garbage, though we would have thrown them into the garbage due to the smell alone. (c) To Dormio's credit, in 2015, John (an owner) responded via email and offered to talk to us about the pillows, but we didn't get around to returning to the downtown location due to its distance from our home. We ate the cost of the pillows & duvet and bought new shredded latex pillows from Dormio; though, we don't use them either because they're too big and make too much noise when sleeping (although they smell fine). (d) We haven't used the sheets in years. They're too warm and not particularly soft. In summary, we don't enjoy the bed or the products that we bought. The only thing stopping us from throwing the entire mattress in the garbage is the fact that we sunk $5000 into both the bed and its foundation with the hopes that it would last ~20 years. I think that we would be lucky if we can get 2 more out of it. It pains me to throw another $500 at this mess, and I'm left with an incredible sense of defeat and buyer's remorse.
I ordered a mattress on-line, which in itself is quite risky as they are not cheap! I had done plenty of research, so was fairly confident. I was told it would arrive within 4 weeks, after 7 weeks, I had to chase them to find out where my order was. I was told they had run out of materials and they could not tell me when it would arrive. I enquired about a refund, thinking I'd made a mistake, but they were vague. I asked them to call when they had an update. Nothing for 2 weeks, so I chased them AGAIN, only to find out that it had been manufactured and was being shipped shortly - very unprofessional and bad customer service. They clearly did not know what was going on. Next day, the courier company called to arrange delivery, but needed $150 payment on delivery. I said this was not correct, as I'd already paid my delivery charge. Another day of phone calls, emails etc, it was finally delivered with no additional charge. VERY disappointed with the entire process. Luckily, the mattress is amazing, so am happy with the end product, but it should not have taken 10 weeks and 10 phone calls to get it.
