I have been going Oxygen Yoga at Bur Oak Markham since April 2025. The studio is new and well-maintained, with a noticeable attention to detail – some of spray bottles (for mat and blocks sanitizer) that weren't functioning properly, they replaced it immediately with all new ones. However, it's Shakiba's teaching that truly stands out - she's the reason I am writing this review! Her gentle voice, clear instructions, and thoughtful sequencing create a spa-like experience that's both relaxing and rejuvenating. Her music selection is beautiful, and she's always prepared with a seamless flow. You never see her scrolling her iPad for the next song or pausing mid-class - she's always one step ahead. She takes the time to check in on students and offer adjustments, making sure everyone feels supported. I have tried other instructors, and Shakiba is truly exceptional – THE BEST I have experienced, with a 5-star hotel feel. Highly recommend her class!
I've only been at Oxygen Yoga & Fitness for a little over 2 weeks now, and I have to say it's an incredible experience and a great change of pace to any day. This studio has a wide variety of classes that challenge both my flexibility and endurance, and also got me more in tune with my body, mind, and emotions. The vibe here is also very welcoming and warm, and the instructors really know how to motivate us with our classes. Truly thankful to have found this place where I can find deep healing and renewed focus.
I attended this studio for about a month and would not recommend it to anyone. Aside from the great instructors (Maria, Gen, Shakiba, Kelly) the studio owner and staff are extremely rude and did not create a healthy gym environment. While there was only one nice woman working who was very empathetic, as one should be, the rest were rude and hostile. I’ve had multiple issues here. This studio has an issue with items being stolen. I’ve had two pairs of shoes stolen here. After the class, Ian informed me there was nothing to be done and I was told to walk home barefoot, as they check surveillance. Which was also to no avail as they refused to let me look nor did they want to assist me with locating it. I was then contacted by the studio owner who not only used ChatGpt to text me back, but she said I was the problem and said they can’t do anything about my shoes. While they refunded my two weeks, I was still upset about the fact I was responsible for replacing shoes that this establishment is responsible for as they have all customers keep it out and in the open. But to no avail, as she then accused me of threatening them, which I have screenshots to show that was not the case. About a week and a half after my shoes were stolen, I was witnessed another woman claim her shoes were stolen, it was clear she was helped and assisted much quicker and better than I was, as they allowed her to view surveillance footage and were quick to respond. I had to wait after my class to get any type of response for 40 minutes. It’s clear my demographic isn’t a priority to them, which is rather gross. Even the instructors felt bad and claimed they didn’t work there and was subbing in at this location. How embarrassing! They even told me to go to another studio they teach at as they can see this wasn’t the best place, which is now what I do. I also attached the ChatGpt responses (you know it’s ChatGPT when they use, Respectfully Studio Owner) They clearly didn’t care how it felt to walk home barefoot and using this lazy way of texting a paying customer shows how terrible this establishment is.
This is great yoga/fitness centre, everyone is kind along with versatile instructors. I appreciate consistency in certain classes or methods of yoga as it is probably conducted with the company brand's training. I do think yoga should also focus on various types of breathwork (rather than the few we have done) and mudras as true yoga is beyond the asanas/poses. It is a tight space even if the mats are lined up with the stickers, you have to sometimes adjust to the people around you. I do find it is a very quick/short transition between most classes so often its less then 5 minutes when the door opens for classtime. Shout out to Nesrin, Jess, Shoshana, Shakiba, Tarlan and Jaishri - they have been at the top of my list - all motivating, encouraging, and dedicated. And the front desk staff are also very kind and welcoming. I have definitely seen a difference by going to several classes!
Helping people love their lives one class at a time ❤️ Even before opening the staff has been a joy to interact with, positive and helpful. All the classes and instructors I have experienced are fantastic and I love how they mix things up every class so your body never gets use to any one movement.
EDITED: The classes are starting on time now. It can still be difficult for us to see what we are supposed to be doing including our form. The mirror that is in front of the instructor is small so we can use that to our advantage. They have started walking around the room more to do corrections as well as telling everyone to look first and they will face us so that we can see what needs to be done. It's a great community & I've made a lot of friends here! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Love that this location is super close to home which allows me to slowly make my way over & not feel rushed when my other gym location is just under 20 minutes away. So far, I've tried 20/20/20, Hot Box Fusion, O2 Pump and Deep Stretch & Relaxation. My favorite is the deep stretch & relaxation class especially in a dimmed room with flameless candle lights all around. The far infrared allows me to get a really good stretch in. The first time I attended this class on a Saturday morning, I felt so relaxed after a hot shower that I did not want to leave my home. As for the other classes, I find a few similarities so am not a fan of that. A couple of things for improvement: I noticed that the classes do not start on time. It is very important that it starts at the exact minute it is supposed to. For the 20/20/20, somehow we didn't get to do the last 20 minutes which is supposed to be focused on stretching. The moves for all the classes should be called out more clearly. The instructor might want to ask the class to just watch when coming out of one move to the next so that the entire class is still & everyone can get a better view on what is exactly being done. It is very difficult for those who are not set up directly in front of the instructor to see what is going on. I never understood why all fitness classes don't use platforms for their instructors. It's also a bit strange to have the studio entrance in the same hallway as the front door. When we are all there waiting for the studio door to open, every time the front door opens, we are given a nice blast of freezing air. Lastly, the water foundations have room temperature water. I wish it could be nice and cool but easy for me to solve since I just put in a couple of ice cubes at home. I also agree that we are too closed together. It's not nice having my neighbor ask me to move from my spot so we don't touch each other. If it is a problem for them, they should be moving. Every time we are told to stretch our arms out to the side, I am worried about getting in someone's space. I do love the member experience associates though! Veronica, Neha and Ian are so lovely :)
I absolutely love this yoga studio! From the moment I walked in, I felt a sense of calm and peace. The atmosphere is welcoming and serene, creating the perfect environment for both beginners and seasoned yogis. The instructors are not only highly skilled but also incredibly kind and attentive, always making sure to provide personalized adjustments. Each class is thoughtfully structured, leaving me feeling both energized and relaxed.
