Best Kitchens started working on our renovations at the end of October 2022. It started off well, Roselyn made a few suggestions regarding the design of our kitchen, came over a number of times to take measurements and off we went. The progress was decent for the first few months and we managed to move back in right before Christmas. By then the main part of the job had been completed but there were numerous outstanding smaller jobs (installing baseboards, aligning shelves, fixing some deficiencies, etc.) And that’s when the fun began. Matt, her son, who was responsible for installing the kitchen, would show up once every few weeks for about an hour, fix one thing and then disappear again. No project management whatsoever has been done on their part. Every time I reached out to remind them to come and complete the outstanding deficiencies, they would ask for the list of things that needed to be done – same list I would send to them on numerous previous occasions. Then we would have to wait another month for Matt to show up for an hour to complete one task on the list just to disappear again. I had to look for contractors myself to do some small work around the house. At that time we still owed a balance, which I kept so they prioritize the deficiencies. Once the major deficiencies had been completed, I released the holdback relying on their “reasonableness” as Roselyn would like to point out. Once the holdback was released, the work had stopped. Eventually they stopped responding to my emails, texts and phone calls. After paying $30k for the kitchen, we’re now left with numerous drawers that either don’t close completely or make a squeaking sound when closing, a spice rack drawer that is damaged (because they initially attached it to the wrong side) and no details of our warranty, which she was supposed to issue once the holdback was released. On top of that, the plaster finish on the ceiling beam is cracking. I have reached out to them on numerous occasions with no response. I wish more people were honest about their experience with Best Kitchens as I would’ve never retained their business. Bottom line, if you want the job about 95% complete, they would do it for you. If, however you want perfect results, I would suggest to look elsewhere.
We are very happy with our new kitchen and the expertise and professionalism of Roslyn Best and Matt Best - Almeida and Best Kitchens. The subcontractors were all excellent . Wonderful added design support from Samantha Grieve.
It was an absolute pleasure to deal with Roslyn and Matt along with her team of professionals. Their workmanship and experience really shines through their work. Roslyn will help you make design choices if you need help but if you're set on a design, she'll guide you through that as well. Matt is such a pleasure to have around as he demos and builds your dream home. They recently remodelled our master bathroom and we LOVE it so much that we're already booked to renovate the other bathroom with the "BEST" team in town!
We got our kitchen fully done a few years ago and just recently we finished our basement kitchen and washrooms. Roslyn and Matt are both very knowledgeable helpful. They made the whole process from picking the material to the finial finishes very easy and pleasurable. Will definitely be using them again!
Roslyn and Matt did an amazing job on our kitchen renovation. Roslyn did a great design that is very functional and beautiful. She was so helpful in choosing fixtures , countertop and tiles. Matt did the tear out and installation. He was careful, very attentive to detail, patient and pleasant to have in the house. The quality of the cupboards is superior. The project was done on time and we couldn't be more pleased. A huge thanks and very high recommendation.
