What a lovely little restaraunt in our backyard. The food was outstanding, such bold flavours on both the green curry and the pad see ew. The portion sizes were quite good, I expected the curry to be a bit bigger but the pad see ew was much more. A little unfortunate that none of the mains come with a side of rice, but prices are good enough that it's not too big of a deal, in my opinion. The staff was very attentive to my shellfish allergy and often refilled waters and asked how our meal was. This was our first time here, but I highly doubt it'll be our last!
Little Bangkok seemed to have gone through a change. We used to come here off and in for Thai food as there aren’t too many to choose from in the East Markham area. But in a recent take out experience, it really solidified the fact that there aren’t many good Thai places in Markham. We ordered a variety of noodle and curry dishes. Those tasted pretty decent and spicy, as intended. When we opened the box for the Grilled pork jowl, we were shocked to find how little meat there was for $19. For a plate of food costing almost $20, we received a small fistful of meat, with some cute garnish on the side. The food was decent tasting but I couldn’t help but notice how thirsty I was afterwards. In any case, this place is fine if you’re desperately craving Thai food and don’t want to head south of Steeles. But if you can settle for a slight pivot and get Vietnamese cuisine instead, you’ll likely get more bang for your buck elsewhere.
Got tricked. 1. Tom Kha $9 – It was new to me. A coconut-milk-based soup with mushroom and chicken. 2. Moo Ping – These grilled pork skewers weren’t served hot, which makes me feel they were likely pre-prepared. 3. Tom Yum Fried Rice $20 – The shrimp was good, but the rest of the dish was bad, the flavours were off. 4. Pad See Ew $20 – Flat wide rice noodles stir-fried with beef. The flavour was too strong and extremely salty for me, and it even came with raw cabbage.
I've been using Little Bangkok for many years since its opening. Last night's dinner was a disappointment. The pickup was smooth friendly and polite as usual. What we ordered: The old quality and flavours were absent. None of our dishes seemed particularly remarkable or flavourful. The most disappointing was the green curry. It had no body, a thin mild soup. It had been creamy in previous orders, with more veg and meat. The mixed vegetable dish had few fresh greens with soft texture and mild flavour. The Pad Thai was bland with overcooked(?) thin chicken slices. The basil beef was only moderately better. Steamed rice is relatively inexpensive, yet the box contained a single scoop that barely filled 2/3 of the space. The spring rolls were the good. six items on our order, $ 89 and change. I see good reviews for dine in experience. Perhaps more care is taken when customers can give immediate feedback. I feel disappointment that corners were cut and standards have dropped for take away.
What can I say about this place? Words hardly do it justice! I booked an evening here for my husband’s birthday, and Nikki went above and beyond to make it special. We started with the coconut soup — absolutely incredible! I’d happily come back just for that alone. The delicate coconut flavour blended beautifully with other notes, making it perfectly balanced. Next, we shared a platter that was more than enough for two. For the main course, we had Basil rice, which was delicious as well. And to finish, we tried the mango with jasmine rice for dessert — hands down the best way to end the meal! A must-try if you want something unique and satisfying.
Absolutely amazing experience! Amazing food, great atmosphere, and wonderful service! Nisa was our waitress today and she did a lovely job. Highly recommended for great cuisine and great customer service!
Fantastic food with fantastic vibe with fantastic staff. Everything about this place is so authentic and thoughtful. The menu is extremely helpful in telling you not only more about the food but the culture. The food portions are generous and appropriate. Most importantly the food is absolutely delicious. The quality is consistent for the times we came, and the service has always been impeccable. Strong recommend this hidden gem location, that’s been around for 26+ yrs!!
