I have been wanting to visit here for years in First Markham place but ended up always going to Nakwon. I was disappointed with food, very pricey & only 3 side dishes. First time, server gave me only 3 pieces of radish. Chicken Bulgogi had only a handful of chicken. Their Kimchi is good. Second serving of radish she gave me more.
The place is showing age. The food was alright since there are competition and some are better. We ordered the chicken bulgogi and it lacked flavor, the serving was a little smaller than others. They only provide three side dishes of small portions that can be refilled. This place is relatively pricey for the amount of food provided.
Had a great meal at Owl of Minerva in First Markham Place. Prices were fair, the place was quiet but still lively, and the service was wonderful. I wish I got our waitress’s name, she had such a bubbly personality. We had chicken bulgogi, Mul NaengMyun, and Kalbi Tang. The noodles were super fresh and bouncy, the soup perfectly salty and tangy, and the Kalbi Tang came out boiling hot with meat that fell off the bone. Would definitely come back.
You can find better Korean food elsewhere and even other owl locations are better. Terrible side dishes, which is one of the best things about Korean food. Gamjatang is still decent.
Gamjatang was so delicious. Meaty and flavourful. Clean place and decent prices. Visiting guests are their heart out! Think triple D quality (Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives).
Packaging was hard to open although visually appealing and leak proof. A knife was required to open the meal and made a mess in the process. The peel and eat shrimp and mussels in a shell are not the most ideal option when you're sitting at your desk eating lunch. My husband made quite a mess of his desk and his shirt today and followed it up by telling me that the meal wasn't very tasty. Perhaps he would have had a different experience if it wasn't so messy. This is a meal option that are chosen when you're eating at home or in the restaurant. Next time I'll send a different dish from their menu and see if my husband has a better experience. And when you look at the receipt bare in mind that the restaurant will be a lot more inexpensive if you eat there or go to pick it up yourself because the Uber eats fees are included in the receipt that I have posted.
Ordered over the phone right before they closed at 9 pm.. the lady who picked up the phone was nice enough to ask the kitchen if they still had time to make an order.. went and picked up my food in ten minutes.. it was delicious..will be visiting again. Would have taken a picture of the meal..but I already finished it.. PS thank you to the cook/chef who took the time to make the meal..I know that most people do not thank the kitchen..so I personally wanted to make sure to mention that.
