Ignore the lower reviews on here. I have been coming here for 15 years plus and its always delicious. It is not high end or anything like that but its cheap reliable and delicious. The lunch special is an absolute steal with fried rice. Every dish is done differently than other places and it isnt as spicy as some too. But i like it that way. May not be for everybody. I just ordered through uber eats and it was delicious as always. My friend who is normally very picky also really enjoyed their food and i love paying 20 to 40 bucks less then local competitors. They deserve good business because they do good business. Love this spot. Oh also fairly big portions and zero shrink-flation has been observed by me over the years.
I wanna say the Hakka food is good but when it comes to western chinese dishes, it's very different and I struggle to enjoy. For example the mango chicken dish sounds like a great lunch special to enjoy but the sauce is very sweet and lots of veggies are cut in chucks which makes it difficult to enjoy. Had the egg drop soup but the mix vegs were still undercooked and over use of starch thicking.
A few days ago I placed a larger order for my family. I have ordered from this place several times over a 2 year span with no issues. However, this time one of the dishes was total fail. Fish was overcooked and the Haka Noodles with chicken barely had any flavour. I called several times to express my disappointment. Left a vm and got no returned a call. Yesterday I phoned a can and spoke to one of the staff abd complained. Immediately I was rebutted and told that overcook fish was impossible voiced by the manager. Also, they said they don't check voice-mail. As business providing a service it's important that customers are heard. Nothing was done there was no interest to rectify the issue to maintain a good relationship. I will not give them future business nor will refer any customers to them!!! Poor customer service and 0 respect for their customers.
Quality has gone downhill over the years. They starting using frozen vegetables to make meat dishes look fuller. We ordered kung Pao chicken, it was a few pieces of chicken and they added a ridiculous amount of frozen vegetables which was something we rve never seen in that kind of dish before ( green peas and cubed carrots), 2nd dish was beef in black bean sauce and they added a couple pieces of meat and once again frozen veggies ( another random version of this dish ), Manchurian chicken and chili chicken was overly breaded and bland ( no seasoning at all). Integrity matters, its sad that this is the direction they decided to take.
IYKYK this is a bang for the buck hole in the wall (stated with the upmost respect). Local Markham spot always delivers! Chilli chicken gravy on fried rice with a Diet Coke or spring roll for less than a large McD’s meal. Get it with noodles, the noodles are tasty as well. So far I’ve gone down the menu and all have been delicious.
I stay loyal to Luckys in Scarborough but happened to be in Markham so I gave this place a chance. Wow, incredible flavour and price and portions! So happy I gave it a shot, the guy was really friendly too making sure I had napkins cutlery etc, and really nice big smile (even though I showed up 10 mins before they close!). I had Manchurian noodles and chili chicken. Awesome find thank you!
Edit: still the best veggie pakoras anywhere. Tangra Villa chicken and dry General Tao are fantastic! Friendly people, best Hakka Chinese in Markham and I've tried ALL the other big Hakka places....this one is the BEST!
