The staff were very prompt and professional. Our sushi chef was incredibly kind and also really funny, which made the whole experience feel comfortable and pleasant. There was a great assortment of fish, and when he noticed I skipped the horse mackerel, he offered an alternative, which was such a thoughtful gesture. I did enjoy the Spanish mackerel since it was much more mild and tasty. Overall, I loved the variety of dishes they put together for today’s menu.
Fantastic dinner experience. The food is absolutely top tier, the chefs are friendly. Service is attentive but not intrusive. It's is such a beautiful intimate dining room. 14/10 will be going back for their spring menu.
I have had omakase sushi for over a decade and I honestly felt Ibushi was able to give me a pleasant surprise and hence the 5 stars. Everything else in recent years are just flat in my opinion.
Not only the food is extraordinary, the dining experience is super relaxing. Chef Hiroki is super friendly. Staff Ariel is very kind and a great designer of the menu.
Ibushi Omakase is one of those hidden gems that has a loyal following for its exquisite attention to detail and dedication to the craft of sushi. If you're talking about the experience of dining there, it's one of those meals that transcends just food—it’s an experience, and you’re in the hands of a master. Ambience: The atmosphere at Ibushi is intimate, typically with a minimalist, almost zen-like vibe. The restaurant keeps it quiet and low-key—no flashy decor, just clean lines and soft lighting. The focus here is squarely on the meal and the art of sushi preparation. It’s the kind of place where the quiet hum of conversation is a contrast to the artistry taking place right in front of you. You’ll likely be sitting at the counter, where you can watch the chef's every move, which adds to the whole sensory experience. The Omakase Experience: Omakase means “I leave it up to you,” and at Ibushi, the chef takes this very seriously. From the moment you sit down, you know you're in for something special. The entire meal is a well-thought-out progression of flavors, where each dish is served at just the right moment and temperature. Every piece of sushi is prepared with precision and served immediately, so you're getting it at its peak freshness.
Not showy and no extra garnishes to plomp up the dishes like some other omakases, just simply very very good food and good eyes for great seasonal ingredients. If you like great food in a humble and let the food do the talking kinda way, this is it! Omakase is a journey to experience and this was a great one! Thank you Hiroki San for sharing the origin stories and explaining the dishes to us. The sushi were really good and as with all the other courses served. It was great value and we had a great time! This place is such a gem!
I’ve been to many omakases in Tokyo, NYC, Vancouver, and Toronto. I can say that Ibushi has great quality for the price. Highly recommend this place. The only negative was the matcha dessert. Lately all the omakases are giving me that dessert and I don’t even like matcha
